The Red River Branch of Clan Cameron began its existence as the Texas Chapter in November, 1992. Cerise (Cameron) Blair, her husband, Thom, and Ron Ammons hosted the first tent event at the Salado Highland Game on a clear, chilly weekend. Seven new members signed up as members during those two days, and the Chapter was off and growing quickly.

Under the guidance of the Stone Mountain Georgia Branch, the Chapter soon had members from the surrounding states of Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas, however, the majority of its memberships for the next several years centered on the Ft. Worth-Dallas area of N. Texas. It didn’t take long before it was clear that – large as Texas is – there were many Camerons in it and surrounding states ready to join. Given that fact, early on the state of Texas was divided into the N. Texas District, the East Texas District, the Central District, and the Gulf Coast District with a Director over each. Soon these Directors were joined by an Arkansas District Director and a Louisiana District Director.

As membership and activities climbed steadily, the Texas Chapter evolved into the Red River Branch that included the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana plus all of Texas, as chartered by Cameron of Lochiel in February, 1995.

Since then the Branch has become the guiding light for the MOKAN Chapter, which began in 1998 and covers Missouri and Kansas Camerons.

The following Camerons have served as President of the Texas Chapter and the Red River Branch since 1992:

Cerise Cameron Blair, Convenor and Founding President

Jackie Cambron Sears

Thomas Cameron Adams

Kevin Coleman

Steve Taylor

Bobbie Halpenny, current President

For a more complete understanding of these boundaries and where the Northern Region, the Rocky Mountain Region and the Western Region of Clan Cameron boundaries lie, please refer to the main Cameron website: www.clan-cameron.org for this and many more details, articles and links. The Canadian Branch, covering all of Canada and Nova Scotia, is also included in Clan Cameron of North America.

Each Region is headed by a Regional President. The 5 Regional Presidents work under the leadership of the Commissioner of North America. It is through Cameron of Lochiel that the Regional Presidents of North America are approved and named, after having been nominated by the No. America Commissioner. Completing the worldwide organization, the Commissioners of North America is joined by that of Australia and Scotland, all of whom report directly to the leader of Clan Cameron worldwide, The Lochiel in Scotland.
